Do I need a referral to see Dr. Mantone?
Most patients arrive at Dr. Mantone's sports medicine and joint practice by referral from another physician, though your insurance plan is what actually decides this.
Call the office before you schedule, and staff can tell you what your plan requires and help you get any paperwork moving.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and any imaging or records tied to the knee, shoulder, or hip concern that brought you in.
If a referring physician sent notes ahead, you do not need to bring a copy, but bringing one anyway speeds things along if the office has not received it yet.
What happens during my first visit?
Dr. Mantone examines the joint you came in for and reviews your history before talking through what comes next.
His practice centers on sports medicine and the knee, shoulder, and hip, so the exam is built around how that specific joint moves and loads under activity, not a general head-to-toe checkup.
Is Dr. Mantone accepting new patients?
Yes. Dr. Mantone is accepting new patients for sports medicine and joint care of the knee, shoulder, and hip.
He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, followed by fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery at Baylor University in Dallas, Texas.
What happens after my first appointment?
What comes next depends on what the exam and any imaging show.
Dr. Mantone will walk you through what he found and the options available, which may include further imaging, a home exercise plan, or a follow-up visit to track how things are progressing.
Who do I call with questions before my visit?
Call the practice office directly.
Dr. Mantone sees patients through Avera Orthopedics in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and the office staff can confirm referral requirements, paperwork, and logistics before you arrive.
